Carry Your Gadgets with "Style"

When I'm on the road going to court, meeting with clients, or taking care of business, I usually have many things with me, including my wallet, keys, PDA/Smartphone (and sometimes a backup cell phone as well), and USB flash memory drive. Sometimes I'm able to carry a bag with me, and sometimes, it's not so convenient (I don't like having to carry a bag to a lunch meeting).

ThinkGeek has come up with it's new Gadget Hip Holster, which allows you to store most things that you would carry with you, including your cell phone, MP3 player, keys and wallet. Apparently, ThinkGeek feels that it's something that someone out of Star Wars would wear. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing really depends on who the target market is.

If you don't want to look like you just came from a sci-fi convention, there is also the Gadget Shoulder Holster, which essentially can store the same items. When I was articling for a lawyer on Bay Street, another lawyer in the office carried that for his wallet and Palm Treo. It works a bit better for lawyers in that it can be hidden under a suit jacket, and has that police-detective-holstered-gun feeling, but I don't think everybody sees it as being fashionable. As the receptionist at that office said, "He's carrying it around because he thinks he's Steve McQueen."

For me, I don't think I'm overly interested in either of those. I'll take the bulletproof raincoat and say "Good day".
