Real Estate Purchase Tips from CityNews

CityNews recently did a series of news stories about purchasing real estate. They give some basic tips to first time buyers. Even for people who have purchased before, it's still probably worth a look.

Overall, I thought the stories were informative, but did not go to the root of the process and considerations that many people neglect. A good real estate agent and lawyer can help guide you through the process and answer any specific questions you may have.

In speaking with one of my law clerks, she pointed out to me that no two real estate transactions are ever exactly alike. In thinking through all the files I have ever done, I think she is right on that. Moreover, I think that each transaction is different because of the different personalities of the purchaser, vendor, agents and lawyers.

One of my friends suggested I shoot a realty series and post it on YouTube to help purchasers and vendors understand what is involved in a transaction. I thought about it briefly, but realized all the confidentiality issues that would arise from the general public viewing all the transactions going through my office. I'll need to consider some other gimmick.
