Blogging is so 2008

While driving home from the office today, I was thinking about what I should blog about. After hitting the 401 and seeing the many supporters of our troops, I actually wanted to give my support by Twitter, but realized it wasn't the best thing to do while driving. That made it clear to me that blogging wasn't the way to go for me.

Often, I'll want to share a link or just a random comment from wherever. With Twitter, I can do it easily and right away. For my blog, I need to use a computer and log in before I can start to write. Blogging also requires a lot more time in the sense that I need to come up with a more complicated article to write, rather than just sharing one off comments that don't need further discussion on my part.

In speaking with friends, Twitter doesn't seem very popular with those of my generation. Facebook and MSN seem to rule with them. Many of my older clients barely use email, although one of them surprisingly was following me on Twitter during her closing. I'm not really sure of the best way to reach everybody out there.

Based on the results of my experiment to see if anybody was reading my blog, it became clear to me that only a handful of people were actually looking at the site. I'm going to keep blogging, but maybe not with the same level of enthusiasm as I used to. But given the lack of updates in 2008, does it really make a difference, especially if readership isn't that high?

If you are one of the few people who actually read this site and want more, follow me on Twitter.
